Armenio came to from the same owner as Fabio, but it’s clear that Armenio has suffered in his life. He came to us with wounds and scars, and very traumatised. He spent all the time hiding in his kennel, or crouching in the corner. We hoped that he would learn to trust us, but he didn’t – he wouldn’t take treats, didn’t want to be touched and wouldn’t eat if the volunteers were around.
One day, one of our volunteers decided he should go for a walk, so she crawled into his kennel, put a collar and lead on him and took him. What a change! He is a completely different dog when he is walking, with his nose in the air, tail wagging and enjoying life. He no longer hides in his kennel, likes to have a cuddle and will come to anyone who has a collar and lead in their hand.
He is still a traumatised dog though and needs a very special home, with someone who has lots of patience and love to help him feel safe and lots of time to give him the walks he loves so much.
Armenio is around 10 years old and weighs 14kg.
