Dax was found wandering on the street, completely disoriented. When he arrived with us it was clear that he was completely blind and that it was a recent thing – he hadn’t yet learned to adapt and was bumping into things. We have tested him for illnesses that can cause blindness, like diabetes and leishmaniasis, and he is negative for all of them, so maybe it was caused by an accident.
Since he has been at the shelter he has learned to deal with being blind, but it is can still be a bit scary for him. Something in a place he is not expecting it or sudden movements spook him. He’ll need a family who are very patient and understand that it will take time for him to adapt to new experiences and places.
In return, you will get a brave, sweet and loving dog who adores climbing into a lap for a cuddle!
Dax is about 8 years old and weighs 12kg. He also has a weak hind leg that he doesn’t like to be touched, it doesn’t bother him most of the time so we leave it alone.
