Fifi came to us a few months ago, after spending a couple of years at a municipal shelter. In that time, she had never socialised with people, her fear was misunderstood and she was at risk of being euthanised as an aggressive dog.
She really was very scared when she came to us, didn’t want to be touched and did anything she could to get away from volunteers. She bared her teeth in fear, but was never aggressive and has never bitten anyone, despite many opportunities. She just didn’t trust that people could mean well and not do her any harm. But with a lot of love and perseverance, we finally won her over! She is now a loving and sweet girl who is making up for lost time, making the most of the treats, walks and cuddles that she loves.
She is great with children and other dogs, and we think she would really benefit from having another dog in her home. Of course, we can’t just wash away her troubled past so her new family will have to keep in mind what she has been through, and understand that she will always need to be treated calmly and with patience.
Fifi is around 4 or 5 years old and weighs 15kg.
