Fénix spent many years living in terrible conditions that just got worse and worse. This year, neighbours complained to the police who fined his owner – not for the state that Fénix was being kept in, but because he wasn’t legally chipped and vaccinated. A neighbour complained to the local council and the municipal vet but, when still nothing was done, he contacted us for help. The owner didn’t want or care about Fénix and agreed that we could take him. We are still pursuing a complaint against the various authorities who knew that Fénix was being neglected so badly but did nothing.
Fénix spent a couple of days on a drip at the vet and having his terrible skin cleaned up. He had scabies, lots of ticks and has leishmaniosis. His joints were infected and he had open wounds, with exposed bone, on hips and ankles. And, of course, he was starving and malnourished.
We were very fortunate that Zuzana offered to foster him and he has received the very best care from her over the last couple of months. He has put on weight, his wounds have healed and his hair has grown back. Now we can finally see the lovely character that he is! He is lively, energetic, very friendly, always runs to people for cuddles and pats, loves walks and treats, is a quick learner – everything a dog should be. He is a sweet, loving, happy boy and is ready to find his forever home.
His exact age is unknown, but at least 5 years old, and he weighs 15kg. His leishmaniosis is controlled with a daily dose of allupurinol.
